well, here we go …

DANDRIDGE STERNE all started after our daughter was born.

I’m sure every parent of a young child knows the routine - the kid won’t sleep, so you drive around until they do. Driving around town, driving through the country, even circling the block, hoping wailing and whining yield to a holy silence of sleep. Tippy and I would drive through neighborhoods and look at houses, whether near home or on our travels, but usually always established and grand.

At the same time, we had moved into our “grown-up house”, a big old Georgian Revival with mature boxwoods, massive columns, a floating staircase to die for, and lots of projects.

So, what started as a way to pass the time led to a quest for inspiration for our own home. I started posting the pictures we’d take and, surprisingly, other people were interested too. So I kept posting and posting and now here we are.

Now, we’re taking another step. Many people have asked for more detail and depth than an Instagram post allows - questions like “who designed that?” “who makes that lantern?” “where can I find this listing?” “what do you call that detail?”

We’ll be highlighting some of the great architects and designers of the past, as well as the musings of some of the greats working today. And sharing with you some of the objects, places and experiences we’ve found along the way.

We hope you’ll join us!
